ApolloLIMS - Core Laboratory Information System
ApolloLIMS functions as the core of the laboratory information system and controls the day-to-day workflow. ApolloLIMS core features include: Specimen Processing, Results Processing, Reporting, Inquiry, Customer Service and Security. Other modules are available to expand core capabilities of ApolloLIMS.

Specimen Processing
Specimen processing is the starting point to record a specimen entering the laboratory. In ApolloLIMS specimen samples may originate from human sources, water samples, animal specimens, pharmaceutical products, environmental testing or suspected bio-terrorism materials. Specimen information may be entered into ApolloLIMS either manually or via an electronic data interface. Requisitions, patient face sheets and other documents may be scanned into the system and associated with a specimen. A variety of management reports allow the laboratory to ensure that the specimen processing area is operating efficiently.

Results Processing
During results processing the laboratorian can easily identify what work is outstanding by viewing the Pending Lists in ApolloLIMS. These reports can be viewed for an entire department or a specific work list. In ApolloLIMS a test can be a standalone or part of a comprehensive Order Code. Testing algorithms can be predefined and the algorithms may range from simple to very complex. Because ApolloLIMS is a rules based application there is a great deal of flexibility in setting up tests at the Result Code, Test Code, and Order Code levels. Calculations and Follow-up definitions are also locally defined and configured in a rules based, expression environment. Test results may be quantitative or qualitative and may be entered as free text or chosen from a predefined list. Normal ranges can be defined by species, sex, specimen type and patient age. A variety of alert flags can be associated with a specific result range or attached as a coded result. ApolloLIMS is one of few laboratory information management systems that can perform auto-verification of specimens based upon locally defined logic and results limits.

Advanced Reporting
The ApolloLIMS Advanced Reporting module provides a very rich feature set that allows laboratory managers to develop advanced reporting protocols and tools. The ApolloLIMS Advanced Reporting module provides a robust Adhoc report designer and reporting engine which allows laboratory personnel to design and deploy custom reports. ApolloLIMS provides the ability to also make these custom reports an integral part of the ApolloLIMS application The Advanced Reporting module also provides the capability for automatic fax reporting of laboratory reports. The capability for automatic fax reporting has allowed many labs to significantly reduce costs associated with traditional printed and mailed reports. ApolloLIMS follows all of the required standards for 21 CFR Part 11 Electronic Signature and can even be configured to utilize digitized signatures where applicable.

Specimen Inquiry
To give the laboratory quick and easy access to specimen information, the ApolloLIMS information inquiry module allow a laboratorian to search by patient name, specimen number as well as several other key fields. Once retrieved, the user can reprint a patient report, add internal comments, view associated images or see the audit trail to research specimen and report handling history.

Customer Service
ApolloLIMS is able to help the laboratory provide better patient and customers care by offering a Customer Service area that is able to provide all the information needed while communicating with customers. The user can easily retrieve patient information, add additional tests upon prescription, or call STAT or critical results to the submitting client account.
